If you're like most people, your bed is the focal point of the room. It is the first thing you notice when you walk in, and the first thing other people notice when they walk by your bedroom. No matter what else is going on with your decor, a neat, coordinated bed makes the whole room come together. But of course, it has to flow with not only the style of your bed, but with the furniture you have in your bedroom.
If you have traditional-style furniture, you can enhance this look by choosing a comforter set that reflects this style. Wild, loud prints and colors will look out of place against a traditional background. Instead, choose colors and prints that look nice, but hearken back to a traditional style. This can be as simple as a floral or paisley pattern, or a striped pattern. You can get away with using some bold color if the print itself isn't too modern looking, like a geometric pattern.
For a romantic look, most people immediately think of ruffles, flowers and lace...but you don't have to go there! To create a romantic bedroom, think dark, rich, sensual colors. Go beyond traditional red and choose deeply toned jewel colors like purple or green. Choose a comforter set with a lot of texture, which not only adds visual interest but just begs to be touched. Make sure it looks and feels soft and luxurious. Another option for a romantic comforter set is all white...if you choose bedding that is very soft, puffy and tactile, (think goose-down duvet) all white can look very romantic and also fits with a traditional style room. Add lots of pillows and other soft surfaces, and you'll feel like you're at a romantic bed and breakfast!
